Function

The Ategrity Brokerage Property team provides primary and excess insurance solutions to the E&S commercial property market through our exclusive wholesale broker network. As part of this team, the Specialist Property Underwriter evaluates, structures, and prices complex, high-value commercial property risks across diverse industries and geographies. Leveraging decades of underwriting experience, advanced analytics, and market insight, the underwriter delivers thoughtfully designed coverage and competitive pricing while maintaining strong broker relationships and disciplined portfolio management. Role

The role will be responsible for production and case underwriting for a book of shared and layered property risks. The incumbent candidate will underwrite new and renewal business - reviewing and analyzing insured's operations, loss history, and other pertinent information and leveraging a home-grown technical pricing framework. Success in the role requires property underwriting proficiency and the ability to underwrite and transact business at a fast pace while upholding adherence to underwriting standards. The role will report to the AVP of Specialty Property. This is a fantastic opportunity to join Ategrity, a growing business where you will serve as an asset to the Underwriting team.

Key Responsibilities

Underwriting & Monitoring

Serve as a key contributor in managing strategic underwriting aspects of the Commercial Specialist Property division. This includes risk assessment, coverage determination, calculation of premiums, production management, adherence to underwriting guidelines, catastrophe capacity utilization, loss analysis, and referral handling. Underwrite and monitor various classes of property insurance for excess and/or shared layers, ensuring profitability targets are achieved, and underwriting discipline is maintained in alignment with company strategy, risk appetite and Letter of Authority.

Profitability & Production Management

Monitor production and profitability of commercial property insurance portfolios. Assess performance metrics and contribute to underwriting strategies adjustments as necessary to meet or exceed company objectives.

Communication & Collaboration

Clearly communicate underwriting decisions, guidelines, and policies to internal and external customers. Ensure that all communication is in line with company standards and regulatory requirements, fostering transparency and mutual understanding across all parties.

Broker Relationship Development

Cultivate and strengthen relationships with brokers, ensuring satisfaction and driving continued business success through proactive engagement and support Represent the company at industry events and meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in Commercial Property underwriting, with a focus on shared and layered business.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport and teamwork.
  • Experience with establishing, growing, and maintaining startup companies and/or business units preferred.
  • Ability to develop & execute plans and to provide strategic direction to the development & achievement of division goals.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
  • Advanced certifications such CPCU, AU or CIC, continuing insurance education desired
