Job Description

Boutique South Tampa law firm is immediately seeking a Legal Assistant with at least three to five years of experience in creditor's rights bankruptcy, collections, garnishments and replevins. This individual will be responsible for handling all aspects of the action including processing referral, initial pleadings for lawsuit, service of process, defaults, publication, preparation of Summary Judgment packages and setting hearings.

Job Duties:

• Runs SCRA and PACER reports
• Run conflict checks and terrorist checks
• Prepares initial pleadings for filing of action under attorney’s direction and review
• Handles drafting, e-filing, any required copying, uploading and/or mailing, service of process, defaults, publication (if needed), and Judgment packages.
• Enters data into case management program including questionnaires, notes and To-Do’s regarding progress of action
• Searches for any applicable administrative orders, local rules, judicial procedures, etc.
• Sets hearings
• Responsible for maintaining digital files
• Handles payment of costs associated with the action and invoicing the client on a timely basis.
• Assist attorneys as needed. (Discovery, Dictation, and others)
• Ability to use various client platforms and computer software as provided by firm
• Maintains confidentiality and protection of data
• Effectively interact with clients, defendants, and third-party vendors.
• Ability to manage job stress and interact effectively with others in the workplace
• Honesty and maintaining one’s composure in public

Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel), browsers (ex. Chrome, Edge, etc.). Knowledge of Black Knight and/or Perfect Practice is a PLUS!

This is a TEMP-TO-HIRE position with the employer having the option to hire permanently.
